A brief presentation
Diamond detectors are a concrete alternative to the silicon detectors.
The diamond sensors are assembled in Lecce using polycrystalline diamond films grown through the Chemical Vapor Deposition process, provided by Applied Diamond.
Two types of detectors are assembled, which differ by the nature of their electrodes:
- metal electrodes (more traditional);
- graphitic-contacts, produced with an excimer laser in the L3 Lecce Laser Laboratory.

Currently, the PADME group of Lecce is producing and assembling different prototypes of the diamond target, both with metal contacts and graphitic strips.
